The chickadee pecks the tealight on the table. The first snow fell yesterday. It is freezing cold and the blood in my body

feels like it is trying to escape. My feet are numb. I am looking at the deserted bird table in the middle of the snowdrift.

​

“The birds cannot be fed anymore,” they say. There will be problems.

​

A new load arrives for the second time today. We empty the boxes. Arrange and hang the items side by side.

Install the burglar alarms.

​

Made in China, Made in Bangladesh.

​

Hanging, dangling, wanting, waiting, estimating, lurking, demanding.

​

The persistent guilty conscience. I guess it is the burden of our times.
